Bio: Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonvilla, Florida. The band formed in 2001 & features Brent Smith, Brad Stewart, Jasin Todd, Barry Kerch & Zach Myers. The group has released three albums on Atlantic Records & have produced hits such as “Save Me” & “Devour.” The band has sold over eight million albums worldwide.
In 2003 the band debuted Leave a Whisper which featured some good songs but was just enough to get them noticed. A cover of a Lynyrd Skynyrd classic “Simple Man” helped the band’s popularity. In 2005 the band released Us & Them which produced hits “Save Me” & “I Dare You” (later performed by an American Idol contestant). The second album gained the band mainstream success when they struck gold in late 2006. interestingly the album comes in three different versions all featuring various numbers of tracks, though all include the thirteen tracks the album is supposed to have.
In 2007 the band toured with fellow rock band newcomers gaining attention in Seether & Flyleaf. During select dates of their tours the band has recorded their sets for DVD purchase. The band released their next album The Sound of Madness in 2008. The hit single “Devour” was off this album which has been featured in the Madden game, as well as for other sporting events.
In 2008 Jasin Todd left the band & Todd hasn’t done anything musicly since. Shinedown re-released their first two albums as deluxe editions featuring two dozen previously unreleased songs. These albums were for a limited time only & only available digitally. The band has been nominated for numerous AMA awards but haven’t won any.
The band contributed a song to The Expendables soundtrack & are currently on their Carnival of Madness Tour.
