Bio: Jack Johnson is a singer & film maker from Hawaii best known for his soft rock sound & intriguing music videos. While Johnson has released many hit singles his greatest success came in conjunction with the 2006 film Curious George where he contributed to the soundtrack & also create an album of songs from the movie that sold over 4 million copies worldwide.
Before entering the music business Jack attempted to follow in his father’s footsteps, professional surfer Jeff Johnson, by getting involved in the Pipeline Masters surfing competition. After an accident which resulted in 150 stitches in his forehead & losing a few teeth Johnson gave up surfing professionally, though he can be seen surfing in some of his music videos.
Johnson received a degree in film from the University of California at Santa Barbara which is where he developed his passion for music. He began playing rhythm guitar while there & is said to take influences from Dylan, Hendrix, Otis Redding, Bob Marley & The Beatles amongst others.
Due to Jack Johnson’s love for surfing & film he involves himself in the two whenever he can. In 2000 he co-directed a surfing film called Thicker Than Water which was a documentary about the sport. In 2004 he starred in a surfing film called A Brokedown Melody. Currently Johnson is partaking in a world wide music tour where he has had some special guests thus far, including Ben Stiller.
