Name: Interpol
Date of Birth: 1997
Origin: New York City
Instrument: Vocals, Drums, Guitars
Bio: Interpol is an American rock band founded in 1997 out of New York City. The band original consisted of Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, Carlos Dengler & Greg Drudy. In 2000 Drudy was replaced by Sam Fogarino. In recent months Dengler has left the band to pursue personal projects. The band also occasionally recognizes David Pajo & Brandon Curtis as members of the group.
Interpol is associated with the New York indie music scene due to their roots as a band who emerged from the “post-punk revival” of the early 2000’s. The band often draws comparisons to The Strokes & The Chameleons due to their rhythm & beat. Each member of the band contributes to the lyrics of songs, rather than have one individual write the songs, as most bands do.
The band’s albums Turn on the Bright Lights, Antics & Our Love to Admire have put the band into rock lure. The band continues to work on new material which will culminate in their fourth album set to be released in September 2010.
After gaining moderate success with Matador Records Interpol joined up with Capitol Records in 2006 & since the band has taken off. As a result of their new found success they have been asked to perform at Lollapalooza. The band is set to release it’s new album “Barricade” in the upcoming months but they are having difficulty keeping it under wraps. It has now leaked on the internet twice in the month of July. Paul Banks has also produced his own solo album in the last year.
