Bio: Martina McBride is an American country music singer, often referred to as the Celine Dion of Country Music due to her powerful voice. McBride has had billboard country hits in 1995, 2001 & 2003, showing her longevity in the music business. McBride has recorded nine studio albums, a greatest hits album & a live album. Among other successes, seven of McBride’s albums have been certified as gold. She has also sold over sixteen million albums worldwide. She has also won the most CMA awards in history (tied with Reba McEntire).
McBride released her first studio album in 1992 on RCA records. The album had varying reviews but she gained notoriety for getting play on the CMT channel. Her single “My Baby Loves Me” reached #2 on the billboard charts. Three albums later in 1997 McBride started to breakthrough, with multiple billboard charts including “Happy Girl”, “A Broken Wing” & “Wrong Again.” In total her fourth album featured five top 10 hits.
In 1999 her success continued. Her fifth album featured numerous top 10 hits as well, including “I Love You” & “There You Are.” Most of the other singles from the album had reached the billboard charts in 2001 & 2002. This album entitled Emotion has been certified three times multi platinum. In 2003 McBride achieved her greatest success with the single “This One’s for the Girls” due to it being on both the country & pop billboard charts. Being on the pop charts gained her legions of pop fans. In 2005 Martina released an album featuring only covers of previous country hits, while the album sold like hot cakes in its first week, sales weren’t high thereafter.
McBride has served as a guest coach on both Canadian Idol & American Idol. McBride is currently touring & continues to collaborate with other artists, including recently with Kid Rock.
