Bio: LeAnn Rimes is an American singer/songwriter who has won awards both as a pop artist & country artist including Grammys, ACMs & CMAs. She has also won a dozen Billboard Music Awards. Rimes debut album in 1996 made her an instant success & has been certified multi platinum. The album “Blue” featured a hit single by the same name.
Rimes signed with Curb Records in 1996 & immediately began working on her debut album. While Rimes has always been a country star her voice allotted her to shift from pop stylings to country stylings & back again at any point. Rimes released a second album in 1997 mostly covering other artists’ songs but had a mega hit with “How Do I Live.” Rimes released another album in 1998 & followed it up with her fourth in 1999. While she had some singles gain success on each album the albums as a whole only went platinum.
In January 2001 Rimes released her sixth album, which was speficly aimed at a pop audience but the album didn’t garner as much success as her previous work. Even being railed by most critics. The main feeling was the passion & feeling wasn’t in the music & it had a “synthetic” feeling to it. Nevertheless the album reached gold status.
Rimes also contributed to the movie soundtrack for Coyote Ugly. She won a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for “Favorite Song from a Movie” because of it. After the September 11th attacks Rimes contributed to an album released by Curb Records featuring patriotic & inspirational songs. Rimes continues to work on more music today.
